((I can't not do this from Jewel's account, for reasons. -spring)) SlightlyJewel had heard the story of the cub found wrapped in a bag some years ago, and it broke her heart. Her own status as a newly married sphinx and her duties as an herbalist had kept her too busy at the time to investigate in depth, so she'd only heard the most cursory information firsthand. As her own life settled down, though, the orphaned cub was never far from her thoughts, and she made inquiries whenever she could. Eventually, she was able to piece together what she thought might have happened to his mother, but she had never had a chance to tell the cub himself. Until now. She approached the rainbow-colored child and lowered herself to his level. "Such a handsome boy. You're the one who wanted to know about his mother, yes?" "Did you know her?" the cub asked eagerly. Sadly, Jewel shook her head. "No, child. I never knew her. But I heard a lot about what happened the night you were found. The people I talked to said that shortly before you turned up, they saw a rainbow-colored female Sphinx carrying something in a sack and running very fast, as if she were trying to run away from danger. I think that was your mother. I think she was maybe running away from something very very bad. I think that, in the end, the only way she could keep you safe was to leave you behind." Tears filled Jewel's own eyes at the thought. "She didn't want to leave me behind?" There was no mistaking the joy in Slightly's voice, and Jewel smiled through her tears. "I don't know," she replied, honestly. "But I can't imagine any mother ever wanting to leave you behind. I think your mother must have loved you very, very, VERY much, so much that she did the only thing she could think of to keep you safe. I can't think of any other reason she would possibly have left you behind." She paused, then, and looked at him. "I wish I could tell you more. I really do. But I promise you this. I will try to find out more, and I will make sure no one ever leaves you behind again." Because I know what it's like to be left behind. I know how lucky I was to be found and raised by someone who loves me like I'm his own daughter, and I want to give every cub I meet that same chance. Jewel didn't say anything aloud, but those thoughts kept running through her head. And if the story she'd told this cub sounded a bit like the one her adoptive father had told her... well, stories of abandonment did tend to have common threads.

SlightlySolaria glanced towards Slightly and nodded softly. "I admit I knew your mother, Banafrit was her name. She was a lovely sphinx and you have her coloring mostly, especially her eyes. She was well loved by those who knew her. She had no siblings, but always dreamed of having a child. She was a simple washer woman, would go around and gather wash from those who were elderly and unable to get down to the water's edge and wash their clothing. They were grateful to her and paid her with what coin they could. She never asked for much. She was very sweet and loving, I knew she'd be a wonderful mother." Solaria paused for a moment and sighed, then looked back to slightly and grinned. "She always wanted a child of her own, but when she found she was unable to have one due to sadly being infertile, she was a little heart broken and I always told her that adoption was an option, but she hoped that maybe the physicians were wrong and that she could still have a cub." Solaria glanced over the little one. "I had not seen your mother for a few weeks and then one day she came up to me and was happy with news that she was having a cub. When I asked her, she told me what had happened." A soft purr came from her. "She had said she had been down by the water one day while washing clothing, had been singing a song, one that her mother had taught her. It was about a being who granted wishes to those who were troubled and had a good heart. Suddenly an old man approached her and said she had a lovely voice, one fight for a royal court. When asked what she was singing, your mother began to sing the song for him. The old man had asked her if she ever met this being, what would she wish for and your mother said that she'd wish to have a child. The old man had nodded and told her that was a very noble wish and with her permission, he had touched along her abdomen and said she would be a strong mother to carry a cub. She said she had felt a strange tingling, but didn't think much of it. He then turned to leave and thanked her for the song and then told her to not give up hope. The next day she had met a handsome male and they found much in common. They married after a week and a half, which I found a little odd, but I'm not one to judge as she was finally so happy to be having a cub. I had met your father, handsome and your mother was very happy." Adjusting a moment, Solaria soon continued. "After you were born, she was so happy, as was your father, but I started seeing something seemed to be troubling your mother. I tried asking her, but she'd always say everything was alright, that she was tired. The last time I saw your mother was during another festival. She seemed on edge and afterwords, I never saw her again. It wasn't until recently that a letter was delivered to me and it was from your mother. She didn't want me telling this to you til you were old enough. Your mother loves you, but she wanted you to live among those who would love you, to know the same friends she knew. Her time was limited here and she didn't want any of us to worry. You see, your father lived in another world, a world in which children grew quickly to adulthood, never knowing what childhood could be like. It was also a world to which once there, there was no way back unless a portal is opened and there is only one who can open the portal and that is their king, your father. Yes, your father is royal, but before you go getting angry with your mother for not taking you with her to this land, just know that your mother wanted you to enjoy being a child, to enjoy your young years. If you would have gone with her through the portal, you would have become an adult within a few weeks and you would have never known the joys of playing with others your age, you would have been an adult all too soon. Before the festival, she had acquired a spell that would make you sleep and cast it upon you before you woke that morning for the festival. When you fell asleep, she placed you within the bag and spoke another spell she had been given that would make you hidden from anyone of his realm with magic. There was a note with you, asking that you be delivered to me. Sadly whoever found you decided to take you to Khamerer instead of delivering you to me. I am here now though and I will never let anything happen to you. I will teach you and help guide you. I know I am not your mother, but if you trust me, I would love to take you home and make you part of my family. I know my mate would love you as well."

TootlesSummertide blinked "Adventure? I'm all about adventures! So many things to do and places to go. I have one we can do that is also a great deal of fun!" He bolted to his ship "I have this ship here and it has glitter cannons on it. Because who wants to shoot boring old cannons at things. These shoots tons and tons of glitter all over. I propose we travel the seven seas and find ships and cites to shoot glitter all over. Though we run like crazy from Captain Karen if we hit his ship! He gets very very cranky about glitter on his ship. After we finish glittering ships and ports of call we can figure out a new one to go on!"

SlightlySeti blinked at the young cub. He looked to be of age with young Amethystus. He could perhaps take him in to raise with the other young orphan he had adopted. He listened to the question and shook his head "I do not promise much young one. I did hear of such though when I came to the city. I heard of a female looking desperately for her now missing cub. If she is the one she must have loved you greatly and I am sure she must have set out to find you any way that she could have." He paused and glanced to where Ames played in the local field "I could offer help in locating her one day if you like."

Peter
To be honest my greatest fear is disappointing others. I worry every day when I do something that I will just disappoint those near me with whatever I do or say.

TootlesHarmony made a suggestion that warmed my viking heart. She suggested that she and Tootles bound off to challenge one the great linnorms of the north. Track it down and attempt to slay it so they can take any treasure home. As they travel home they can find more things to do to make the journey home even more exciting!

SlightlyNeti blinked and thought for a long time as she had met many people as she worked to the position she had now. After a long long moment she finally spoke in a soft motherly tone "I think I might have met her. I met many during my studies to become a sword dancer. She was a very kind and soft spoken lady. She was also the sort to not very often push herself into the lives of others. I do miss our tea days. I could help you find her and then we could reunite the two of you."
