& Welcome to the Heb~Bastet! the Sphinx TeamMr. Pooka - manager, colourist, co-owner PookaWitch - creator, main artist, colourist, templater, co-owner SweetIntoxikation - colourist Jeanstarwind - colourist Operetta - Invaluable Organizer Heb-Bastet means 'Bastet Festival' The end of the season of Peret quickly approaches and the month of Renwet is nearly here. On the 4th day of Renwet (or April the 15th to those who follow the Greco-Roman calendar) we hold a festival to the nefer netjer Bastet.
All are invited to attend the Heb-Bastet, sphinx or human, noble or peasant. It shall be a time of merriment, selling of wares, jokes, eating, drinking, and of course the reverence towards the nefer netjer (good goddess) Bastet! Sahret: Hey hekenmess! (Hello Friends!) Ii-wy, welcome to the thirteenth Annual Heb~Bastet Sphinx Celebration! The celebration would be a teenager now. Those of you who attended the previous festivals may remember me, and for the newcomers I shall introduce myself: I am Sahret and a hostesses of the festival. *Sahret motions towards her clowster of cats* As always I have brought along my little darlings to participate, but I do have a new love to add to my collection of cats. Say 'hello' Iri. Iri: Meeeoow!Selene IV: *puts a paw up to shield her eyes from the sunlight while looking at the distant sky* What sort of bird is that? Sahret: I don't think that's a bird. Looking up the local sphinxes could see something large was casting a shadow before the sun. It was too big to be birds, far too big... in fact it was ginormous! As the mystery that shaded the sun approached the city of Ahket it started to come into view for the naked eye. Indeed it was something of immense size! It looked like a ship held aloft by some sort of floating objects. It was so large that it dwarfed the many regular sized ships that sailed the air beside it.Selene IV: What fresh hell is this? Sahret: *sighs* Here we go again. Things to look forward to during the Heb-Bastet are....~ Contests! ~ Giveaways ~ Stray Cats ~ The Temple of Bastet accepting new recruits ~ job upgrade/change opportunities ~ New classes/costumes ~ New traits ~ Lots of opportunities to casually roleplay your sphinxes ~ STEAMPUNK!~ Gears, cogs and innovation ~ Conquering the sky with airships ~ Technology making the world better ~ New sources of power ~ Uncovering ancient mysteries ~ and much, MUCH more!!!

~ No editing contest/auction posts for any reason. (If you think you made a mistake try and repost!) ~ The end time of auctions and timed contests are the very last possible second on the minute posted. For example if a contest/auction ends at 2:30 PI time then the very last post that can be accepted is 2:30:59. (a few more detailed auction rules are always posted with auctions to make everything easy to understand and very clear!) ~ Sometimes a game rule will break the regular rules for fun but should be very clear (such as a contest for the first post with a specific time or a note about being able to edit until the contest ends). ~ ALL of our contests and games are meant to provide fun and enjoyment! Don't worry or stress about a certain type of game, there will be lots of variety and something for everyone, (-8 ~ ALL times listed for contests and auctions are in EST! If you have your time settings on a different timezone here is a handy clock! EST ClockA Request and ReminderWe would ask that you please think of the Heb threads as a fun party and try not to bring down the mood. It's meant to be a safe/fun place where we can leave the stress of real life behind. (Think of it like going into a birthday party, everybody is singing 'happy birthday', they're about to cut the cake... and you bring up something sad/upsetting and ruin the mood.) A lot people people come to these threads to escape real life and have fun, and tend to leave when they see the mood being dragged down. It's not that we don't care! We do care and know that this is a good community to confide in for help/support, but if you do need this please post in a different thread in the Sphinxes General Forums, that's what it's there for. ^_^ Payments

Stray Cats
Sahret: Hey hekenmess, hello friends. Bastet has deemed to bless us with sacred cats who are roaming around Ahket.
They look much like my new darling Iri here.
Iri: Meeow. Perhaps Bastet will take notice of you and bless you with one of her cats.
~*~ About the Stray Cats
During the Heb~Bastet, at the Temple of Bastet, stray cats are seen to wander around. These cats already have a name, and if they hear their name said they will come forth to be with the person who 'called' them. If there are stray cats in an event there will be a warning at the top of the thread letting you know. Ie: *Stray cats have been seen around this event/thread* If there are stray cats in a thread, and you happen to say their name (sometimes they're in another language and their meaning will pull them out) during your posting, the cat will respond and come to you. It can be made a pet for your sphinx, or kept to wait for when you have a sphinx to care for it. Basically it is a 'secret word' game. (A word search to check the threads that have stray cats in them.) Stray Cat Rules~ It will be announced in a thread when a certain artist's stray cats are around, and another note posted when that artist has finished their game (ie. not watching the thread any longer). ~ Only 1 stray cat from each artist can be won per person for the 'secret word' games. (this does not include cats won from other events, just the 'secret word' stray cat game.) ~ Spelling matters! Since a program is being used to find the word posted, if the word is miss-spelled it will be overlooked. So, to be fair - spelling counts. ~ Please note that this is supposed to be in the event of a 'normal post'. So no posts of just name lists in an attempt to call over a cat. ~ Editing posts is fine, but no going back to edit a post after cats have been won in an attempt to make it seem as if you had posted that word first. After the page has the word search completed and winners announced, any edits just to make it seem as if you said the winning name/word before the page was searched will disqualify you. ~ There are other artists with stray cats, and another list of names - with each of us not pre-knowing the names the other was using. So there could be repeats of words/names ~Although some names have many meanings, there is a pre-chosen, exact word that is being used for the cats in this game. (Ie. A cat could be named 'Sebyet', which is Khemetic for 'teacher', and the word 'teacher' would bring out that cat.)

Traditional Long Running Contests When it comes to judging: Please realize that we are not art critics and that we shall try our best. It's difficult to choose between so many wonderful entries, and we already feel like villains for not being able to choose everybody that will enter. So please do realize that if we choose one piece over another we're doing our best and probably will strain, stress and worry as we're even figuring out the top finalists, and usually we just go by what caught our attention the most. (also we never pick fast and put off judging because is soooo hard to pick!) There can only be one entry, per contest, per person (not account). PM your entries to Mr. Pooka with the message titled with the name of the contest (ie. if you are entering the art contest send a pm with the title 'Art Contest') (...also I don't always look at contest entries until we set up for judging so if you have a question feel free to either post it in this thread or PM it.) Some years we don't have enough entries for all of the prizes, so don't be shy, go ahead and enter!Entries must be in by May 15th (12 am EST) Art Contest Art of any medium, with the theme of the Sphinxes adoptable and Steampunk.Sometimes judging comes down to 'does it look like it could be from the Sphinxes adoptable or does it look like an anthro cat"? Its a trixy fine line! Pencil drawings, digital work, sculpture, whatever your ready to try! You MUST have made it yourself and it must have been made for this contest. Make sure to sign your picture. 1rst Place Prize - Winner Moophles 2nd Place Prize -Winner Siopilos 3rd Place Prize - Winner Cryptic
Cooking/Baking Contest Bake/cook some wonderful treat! Something themed with Steampunk. To enter show a picture of your final entry with a card/paper in the image with your username, 2020, and a tiny doodle of a cat. :3 (As detailed or as quickly done as you wish. ) If you think it's needed, feel free to describe your choices and reasons for what you made and why you made it. You might wish to check out previous Heb contests to see what Mr. Pooka and I tend to lean towards for choices... nothing set in stone but I think we are usually more impressed with flashy/pretty things, (ie. would prob. pick a cake shaped like a Sphinx over a traditional Egyptian bowl of hummus... although we are often surprised with the types of entries so you never know!) Only enter your own work created for this contest. Pictures of the steps is awesome and helpful, but not required. 1rst Place Prize - Winner Siopilos Those are pancakes BTW. 2nd Place Prize - Winner Cryptic 3rd Place Prize - Winner Rayvin_Kittiy And a bonus 3rd Place for - melodysangel Writing Contest sphinxes.proboards.com/thread/899/writing-contest-bastet-2020-steampunk1rst Place Prize 2nd Place Prize 3rd Place Prize

Tameere's Workshop Completed ~ Scavenger Hunt for Science! Held in it's own thread. A Wish for Wings
"Ever since I arrived in Ahket, I've noticed that some of you have shown an interest in my clockwork wings. Sometimes it's curiosity and sometimes it's pity... but honestly I love my wings, they're a great replacement for my broken ones." She clears her throat
"Anyhow, I do know how to create and 'install' clockwork wings on a sphinx. I will be honest, the process needs to use a mixture of Science and magic to ease the pain, and sometimes it may hurt as they heal. But I can install a pair for two of you."
She looks a little apologetic for skirting her duties "It may not have much to do with the search for a power source, but at least it's something that I can offer in thanks for so many giving us aid. At the moment I only have the resources and time to install two sets of wings, so I'm going to look for who needs it the most."
((OOC)) the game
A Wish for Wings
Basically, I'll add the steampunk wings trait onto the two winning sphinxes. This will be a drawing draw, with optional extras.
First, along with the title 'AWishforWings' (in bold and as one word) post a picture of the sphinx who you want to gain the wings. This can be a regular posed Egyptian (including crio/hieroco/etc) or Greek sphinx They may have wings already, but existing wings will be removed for the new ones. If they already had wings it will be noted in their file for future breeding purposes.
Second, post a drawing that you have done for this contest of your sphinx in a way that conveys why they need these wings. The drawing must be signed with your username and 'Sphinxes Steam 2020'. You may also post up to a paragraph of description with your drawing to elaborate.
One winner will be chosen from the entry that appeals to me the most (Is it pity that moves me? Or humour? Maybe impressive skill? I have no clue what will appeal to me.) The rest will be entered into a random draw for the second set of wings.
You can post this at any time before midnight Friday April 24th (EST). (ie. the contest ends once it ticks over to Saturday)
You may edit your entries until the time runs out.
((I'll edit on the front page, and note, if I made any mistakes. ^^; ))
It's Dangerous to go aline! Take this...Tameere was a little flaberghasted at the turn of events. First she joined up with these fun airships, then they needed energy sources. And now... was that serpent people. Or was it Serpent sphinxes, or maybe sneople? Either way, whatever they were, it was something evil, and she would not abide evil.
Many a sphinx seemed to believe the same as they prepared themselves for a possible encounters with these evil creatures. But, were they truly ready? The S.T.E.A.M. ships did have some great weaponry and advancements that perhaps these brave sphinxes could use?"I hear that you are chasing down the serpent sphinxes.' she thinks of what happened the other night. 'ah, I mean these evil 'new' serpent sphinxes." hopefully that covered her slip-up. "It's dangerous you know and perchance I can give aid. I have a friend here who is great with a firearm and if need be is willing to fight along with you. Also, I have a few things to give out. It's dangerous to go alone! Take this..." First, is a new comrade who has some skill with fighting. The next is another clockwork companion who can keep you safe. (This is the sample of the standard colours. One will be added to the winner's inventory.) Third is a firearm to help you if you find yourself in over your head. Hmmm, but first you may need a little target practice. ((OOC))
Tameere has a few things to give out that hopefully will help aid you on your dangerous endeavour. To win one of the three above you play this game for the next half an hour on the normal setting. Rapid Fire 2
Take a screenshot of your best score and post it here. The highest score will win the sphinx above, the second highest a clockwork dog, and the third highest will win the firearm.
You have until half an hour after this post to get your scores in.

Mission Control Center Doc Perry's Mission listI need some very specific help with some of our up coming projects and searches... perhaps you could lend a hand? Below I'll mention some of the skills or items or ... other things we may need and if your good at following instructions or maybe just lucky we can work something out together! Besides just the rewards I'm offering, perhaps if we see the right initiative we might just be able to offer you more than prizes... knowledge. Answers to mysteries you might not have even realized existed! Hummm, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets try some simple tasks first a see where this goes... Completed Missions Mission Number OneI need to know that you are not afraid of an engine. Gears, belts, pistons; they can be intimidating and whatever power source is used can be downright deadly! Ah, I'm not exactly fostering interest in all things mechanical am I... *sigh* I'll get better at this I swear! Now, being that this task might be dangerous we will definitely not be rushing forward but instead set a cold mechanical time. Anyone who posts a picture of an engine with their username in the picture between 11:45 and 11:59 on April 16th will be entered into a draw to win this helpful gearhead! (most any kind of mechanical engine will do... a car engine, lawnmower, Tesla Reactor, reanimation vat controls... anything mechanical from around the house... just a real engine! It doesn't even have to work!) You may also choose to post a Sphinx you own in your entry for a second part of this contest. The last person to enter this contest in the correct time frame who posts a Sphinx will win a Gearhead job upgrade for that Sphinx! ------------------------------------- Mission Number TwoMany of the artifacts we are looking for may have gone unnoticed by treasure seekers... odd curio and devices of unknown purpose. It is difficult to say or even describe some of these things in a way that makes sense, on top of the fact that time and trade may have damaged, modified or otherwise hidden their true nature... and that is as if we find any of these items or power sources in whole condition. Even a piece or fragment could be invaluable to our... research! Perhaps some examples...Anyone who posts a picture of something weird or interesting that they own/have in their house (with the prerequisite user name in the pic) with the any time stamp that ends in :00 (2:00, 3:00, 17:00, etc) with the code phrase of ' Research?' will be entered into a draw for this goggled helper! This contest starts now and I'll take entries until the end of April 17th. You may try to enter as many times as you wish, though each time you enter you must post a different item, including failed attempts (like missing the time stamp). You can get yourself into this draw up to 3 times! If at least six different stalkers get on the list the max three times each I'll add a steampunk job voucher to the prize list, (-8 (also for 'weird or interesting' I'm not going to be super picky, just have fun with it! (-8) -------------------------------- Mission Number ThreePerhaps this particular mission is really less of a mission but more of a future mission enhancer. So many local Sphinxes have been so helpful in our quest to find artifacts and the things we need for our ship and our mission. Now, I have a small group of eager Sphinxes who have also been impressed and who are looking to help out and I thought I could facilitate some appropriate matches so that all parties get the best synergy! Each of the below Sphinxes have some special interests that I might be able to match up with yours! The Game Anytime on Friday (tomorrow!) you may post an image of one of these Sphinxes with the code phrase "In need of Assistants!" Also in your post you may post three different interests or hobbies. If you are the first person to post one of these Sphinxes AND pick one of their hobbies or interests you will win them! If no one guesses one of their hobbies, all of the people who tried for that particular Sphinx will be entered into a draw for him or her. You may only enter this contest once (choosing one possible prize). ----------------------------------------------- Mission Number FourThe Doc had to take a break from his battle against the vampire virus, just to get a breather... His own medication was pushing his limits and the wolf was to close to the surface. Now Serpent People... at least Nemo and his helpers might get some leads or information out of them, they had been a constant thorn in their side since, well since as far back as he could remember. Perhaps they should warn the locals that many of the signs left by devilish snakes referred to these lands of Khemet as some sort of base or homeland... No, the clues were still to vague to worry the locals with dangers that might be more shadows than reality. It's a good thing no one around here was psychic and reading his mind and his thoughts were still his own he mused...Things are really gearing up now! One of our ships was attacked and while many were rescued a few are still MIA. Er, sorry, Missing in Action. A lot of the teams around here are big on acronyms. Our scouts have been with working with local helpers and we have uncovered a lot of interesting ancient tech along with several clues that might lead us to more. I'd like to assure you that we are more than happy to share what we learn as well as how to use the items you've been locating... we're not just here to loot and leave! Ah, where was I... it's been busy, yes. Now with absolute certainty we know that there are Serpent People here and they are dangerous. We need to do some preparation and are looking for more crew, helpers and anyone else who might be interested in assisting us or keeping the Sphinxes of Ahket safe and sound! Perhaps you could help recruit some new members to help out as well, if you happen to know anyone that is! Colouring Contest! There are three different colouring pages and contests. You may enter one or all (lol or yes, 2 of them). Each page has different prizes! I'm going to spoiler the pictures for size... and I'm putting the biggest versions I can get here. Your contest entry can be any size you choose though, just making them big to get the best possible quality! (also I've added them to a Games folder in the Samples section of the website in case we get any odd resizing from this post. All posts must come with the code phrase " I'm Here to Help!" and be posted in this thread before May 6th. You can colour as many of these three picture you like and you may post them together or in separate posts. ---------------- Picture Number One! - New S.T.E.A.M. recruits! Brave souls offering to help work on the S.T.E.A.M. ship or one of it's fleet. Everyone who colours this picture will be entered into a draw for their choice of either a job upgrade (as an exceptional voucher) or their choice of up to three new items from this event added to a Sphinx or Sphinxes they own. There will be two prizes for this draw. ----------------- Picture Number Two! - Brave Explorers! Adventurers looking to explore the surrounding area for artifacts or information on Serpent People! Everyone who colours this picture will be entered into a draw for this dashing Alchemist! There is also a second prize, this handsome cat! ------------------------- Picture Number Three! - Electric Sprites! Helping out the fae contingent on S.T.E.A.M.! ...there is a suprisingly large fae community aboard as well as a great many electrical sprites living in some of the engines and clockworks! Everyone who colours this picture will be entered into a draw for a fairy themed Sphinx (I'll add her pic soonish) and a second prize of an electrical themed Fairy pet! (pic also on the way.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- The Doctor Is In Finished! I've Found A Cure for Undeath......is what I'd like to loudly proclaim to a crowd. We are close though, and perhaps you fine Sphinxes might volunteer for something dangerous to help me? Now I wouldn't ask this lightly of course so make sure you listen to all of the instructions carefully. I believe my experiments on the undead blood of vampires have provided me enough insight to remove this vile infection from the body. The only real problem is the mild side effects, like the retention of a bit of sun allergy, some accumulated aging on occasion, oh and uhm, lycanthropsy. Ahem. Yes, my experiments have been using the powerful regenerative properties of were-creature blood to combat the necrotic vampire infection. I believe that in many cases these powerful forces will cancel each other... In theory. I mean it's mostly worked in the lab, on paper... So, if you would like to help with this side project I'll post the instructions on my door. Cure for Undeath - GameIf you are willing to have a Sphinx you own experimented on for science, simply post them in this thread any time on this upcoming Saturday with the code word Volunteer! You may only enter one Sphinx into this 'contest'. Everyone who enters will be put on a list... The 'winner' of this contest will have nothing happen bad to them and they well win the help of this new assistant! Everyone else on the list has a small chance of becoming... infected with 'something' from vampirism to lycanthropsy to death... or who know's what! The chances are small, but possible. Beware! Entering this contest has a (small) chance to kill or change your Sphinx!

Where the things Mr. Pooka does happen! sometimes! The Naut Society The Naut Society is a collection of scientists, magicians and explorers all looking to find deeper meaning in metaphysical travel. Not all journeys are across land. Delving into time, death, dreams, distant realms and even supposed fiction are all explored in their secluded chantry! ------------------------------ The Fictionnaut - Traveling into Fiction... Fiction, what you might call made up fantasy, the Fictionaut studies and explores in all of its multidimensional levels. Portals into other realms, gateways into the subconscious, powerful waves of energy calling from other dimensions... Perhaps if you help him out he might explain some of the possibilities further! Finished Game
Creation Through Imagination... The Power of Thought!
Fictionnaut: I fully admit that I am a fan of the classics. Works that stand the test of time and have been told over and over. Sometimes they vary, sometimes their morals are modified for current events or believes or rulers... but these tales endure. Personally I believe that these stories are the easiest to explore. Perhaps I feel they are built on stronger foundations in their repeated retelling. My beliefs are also my own prison sometimes and that is why I seek your help! I have been desperately wanting to explore a new creation to test both my theories and my limits. In the past I have connected with... fictional life and brought it back with me into this world. Some of my best friends began life... elsewhere... Now this might be pure hubris, but I ponder if we do this both with purpose and on purpose. Can we create a fiction and then use that fiction to bring it into reality? We are entering uncharted territory here so there is no need for embarrassment if you choose not to participate... What I need from you is a story and I feel that if we focus on a Theme or Genre our collective fictions will be even more powerful and resonate with pure fictional energy.
Creation - The Game!
Help out the Fictionnaut by telling a story! Now in order to sum up a whole novels worth of plot and adventure we will be telling our stories with Images. You may use between 5 and 15 images in sequential order to tell your story. You should also add a title for your story but you may not use any other words to tell your story, only the pictures. Post your stories in the Creation Through Imagination... thread. The chosen theme/genre is very open and interpretable, just strait up Steampunk. (mystery? adventure? romance? supernatural? any of these or more, it's up to you!) You have until 12:00 (noon), Saturday the 25th to post your story. You may edit your entry posts up until the time limit has been reached.
The Fictionnaut will choose his favorite entry and we will create some sort of Fiction-Franken from your entry images to create a prize. We will also select a second winner at random and create a similar Fictionfranken prize!
------------------------------- The Euthanaut - Pushing the boundaries of just how far the living can journey into death. Dead astral realms and haunts, the elusive sparks of life left in the deceased brain, mysterious cold energies found in places of darkness... limitless study of all things deathly... and beyond. Finished Game Raise the Dead... in Social Status! - The Game!Pushing the limits of what it meant to be dead or alive, the Euthanaut had been spending more and more time in the local Duat than the world of the living. Exploring it's nuance and spiritual differences as compared to the deathly spirit layers of other realms, like the trails to the underworld near Phix and the shadowy monster filled shade of Lamoria. Coming across a lots and confused Ka spirit felt a little more like fate than chance... she seemed to struggle with the afterlife, painfully so. His conclusion to her unknown past was to help her start over, instead of struggling with what she didn't know, he could simply provide her with the opportunity to start again. Using the procedures he had recently learned, he stitched together a pleasing form our of old friends who had long since shed their mortal selves in pursuit of deeper understanding of death. The transfer of spirit was an arduous ritual but in the end successful. She was again among the living. Her confusion and loss of memory, unfortunately came with her spirit and this was going to truly be a new beginning, born again into mortal life. This is where the Euthanaut could use your help. Admittedly he has lost a bit of touch with what was... normal. Especially when it came to being social and being alive. If you could help him in your poor lost girls education it would be much appreciated. The Game!Help educate our newly reborn Sphinx learn what she needs to be alive, social and thrive! Show her some good examples or instructions on all of the following! 1 - Singing 2 - Dancing 3 - Etiquette/Manners 4 - Dressing/Style 5 - Friends 6 - Hobby 7 - Speaking/Conversation You can show this off with images, videos, gifs, roleplayed instruction... Whatever or however you feel will get the point across! Please add the codeword " Socialite" in your post and please make your post in this thread. Everyone who enters into this contest before midnight tonight will be entered into a draw to win this socialite! Possible Bonus Prize! - Everyone's name will be entered onto this list TWICE. When I randomize, if your name is on BOTH the top AND bottom of this list your extra fated duality shall win you the Euthanaut himself as well! ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Iron Agents of S.T.E.A.M. or IASThe Iron Agents of S.T.E.A.M. were one of the active groups of 'specialists' living in the city ship. Historically it was started by the sentient Golem Yakob Noheart and his awakened Canine companion Buck. It should be noted Yakob was nicknamed Noheart due to his literally having no heart (until a successful experiment in a clockwork replacement) and nothing to do with his demeanor which was kindly and protective. Interestingly it was Buck who made one of the biggest impressions in the operation and over the years his noble deeds were an inspiration for many... animals... to joining the organization. In the Greek lands they were called Aesops, and while not everyone in the organization was technically born an Aesop most were still sorted into that category for easy taxonomic identification. It should be noted that not all members are animals or Aesops but they are known for having a large number of them! These agents were specialists of all kinds and troubleshooting was the name of the game. From the high stakes danger of spy missions (who doesn't trust a friendly dog when discussing their world domination plots!) to simple policing (one wolf howl is often enough to stop a bar brawl or chase off a vandal) to even basic ship repairs (a few of the agents could literally smell trouble and some creatures were small enough to fix engines from the inside!)... These agents were up for nearly any task, especially when it came to keeping everyone safe. "My lens can see through that case and I can smell you are lying. This is your one and only opportunity to tell me the truth." "Barkbarrooooo grrrr... *ahem*, sorry, something in my throat there. What I meant to say my good boy, is that you might want to give up now! I've wagered a full pound with my friend that I'd bring you in by dinner and both my watch and belly tell me that dinner is not far off... and you don't want me to get all narky now do you!" "Who says penguins can't fly! ...and look cute doing it, I might add!" *wink* ----------------------------------------------------------------- Class and Trait Sample Collection! Spoilered for space!

Transmissions from the NautilusMy name, if you are curious, is Nemo and I am the captain of the Nautilus. I'd like to assure you that I am not here with the intention to cause trouble, but sometimes trouble is a side effect of important work by important Sphinxes. Now my first question is, would you like to be one of those important Sphinxes? There is important work that needs to be done but I cannot tell you the details until there is a level of trust between us. I will of course reward you for your work... I'm not asking for blind trust in me, of course I know that trust moves in two directions. Yes, I know your next question. Why are you asking us to risk ourselves when you are not doing these jobs yourselves? Well I'll start this relationship of trust with a fact about myself. I've taken a vow not to walk on any land ruled over by Kings or Queens or Pharaohs or Priests or any other despotic form of leadership whereupon one Sphinx feels like he or she is above other Sphinxes. I believe all Sphinxes potentially equal and can define themselves by their deeds and actions. I am a leader but I claim that title by right of my actions and I do not need a crown or medal or magic scepter to represent me. Now it is your turn to act and be your own Sphinx. Let me describe some of the deeds I need done and items I need to acquire. In the beginning I shall reward you with material things but if you become interested in more eventually I can reward you with life changing information. You might never see your lands the same again. Lets not mince words. Some of these bounties are seemingly shady... but I can assure you that they are necessary in the grand scheme of things. Completed BountiesNemo's Bounty AI have learned of a local soldier named Pehty who is in possession of one of the artifacts we require. He does seem to have a fine reputation in this city as a trainer or soldiers and archers and who has frequently turned down promotion in order to stay on the same level as those he trains. I could almost commend him for his steadfast commitment to his beliefs... If you are not familiar with this soldier here is an accurate description of him. Now one of my local contacts remembers seeing him be given an odd crystal statue, supposedly from a city called Sebauduat, as a gift for his service. Needless to say, this statue is of more importance than simply an art object. This is a potentially delicate operation because while we do need the statue I don't want to let the local authorities onto the fact that items are beginning to go missing as soon as some new travelers arrive in their city... That would only cause problems. So, part one of this bounty is to create a replica of the statue... which will take a sure paw. The second part of the bounty is to have someone liberate the statue from the soldiers home while he is not there. Here is my plan... Nemo's Bounty A - The GameEveryone who would like to enter this contest needs to post an image or drawing of a crystal statue of some type with a code word of "Pehtystatue" (one word, no spaces for easy searching) in this thread. Sometime in the future I will post an image of Pehty above in this thread, showing that he is wandering Ahket and not in his home. The first person to post one of the crystal statue images that they did not post themselves (you must use any other entrants crystal statue entry image, not your own.) along with the code words of 'Bounty Accomplished!' will win this contest. You may also post a Sphinx in your second entry attempt in you are interested in the alternate prize option listed below. The Prize! - If you are the winner of this contest, Nemo will be able to assign you a helpful new assistant! As an alternate option, if you do not need a new assistant you may instead post an Egyptian posed Sphinx you own in your 'Bounty Accoplished!' post to win that Sphinx a thief job upgrade instead of the new Sphinx. If that Sphinx is already a thief they can instead win a Tomb Robber upgrade. --------------------- Nemo's Bounty C"That we do my submariner friend!" chimed Alan. His demeanor was so much less stern then Nemos it was almost jarring. "Robin and I have a great plan, we just need a third. Preferably someone who can climb and a bit of stealth wouldn't hurt!" Robin simply nodded... his stern look grounded the exuberance from the minstrel. "Now I presume there is no need for introductions, you all know who we are, even if our places of origin vary and... really? They don't tell tales of our exploits in these parts? Worry not, I'll be happy to enlighten you with a song or twelve later my new friends! Tales of robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, stories of swashbuckling subterfuge and..." "I believe they are here to help out with our important missions Alan, not listen to stories. I think the tales should at least wait until we've completed our task." interjected Robin. "Of course! You're so somber my friend. I'll fix that you know. Now onto the job! ...and every good job starts without a little story. Many years ago the a young courtier named Hebony ran away from her home and eloped with a roguish hero, much to the chagrin of her father, an important diplomat. While the middle part of this tale is full of romance and adventure, sadly it ended with our heroine a widow... and a vault filled with treasures looted by her fallen love. Now, all signs from my contact point to a healthy moving on of our beauteous target but one does want to not cause her any undo pain. Life has already dealt her enough! What we need from her treasure vault is not her gems and jewelry, nor anything resembling traditional valuables, but rather a pair of oddly folded discs which are just gathering dust. While not made of precious metals they are nonetheless quite important artifacts that are required by a certain team on S.T.E.A.M. While she will probably never miss the discs, we will be compensating her for our... permanent borrowing of the items? So, really our job is this. Break into her vault, gather the two large discs and leave their weight in silver in her coffers. Yes you heard me, we're breaking in to give her money. Bet you don't have a story like that in your repertoire! ...yet that is! Robin, perhaps you could describe the details?" The hooded archer just shook his head at the long winded musician. "Three steps, easy. Alan will serenade the courtier in order to draw her to her balcony. On the other side of the house, I shall shoot several arrows into the wall creating a climbable stairway to get you up to the second story where the vault is located. Your job is to get in, grab the discs, leave the silver and then get out unseen. Do you feel up to that task?" -------- The Game! - Sometime today I will start to drop some mixed up song lyrics in the shoutbox. Once someone has figured out the song I'm quoting (out of order) they can post the name of the song in the Heb~Bastet Thread. I will post an image of Hebony in the thread once I've seen the name of the song posted to show that we are getting ready for part two of the game! Any time after the image of Hebony is posted part two of the game starts. Five different people must all post an image of an arrow in the Heb Thread. These posts must be uninterrupted, ie. all five posts must be consecutively posted. Any other post, on purpose or by accident restarts the count including accidental double posts by the same person. (more posts beyond 5 is fine... the requirement is just 5 consecutive posts of arrows by 5 different people.) Once that has been accomplished the first person who posts an image of any Sphinx they own (for RP purpose, whoever is helping out is cool of course) along with a picture of some silvery coins or bars will win the first prize below! Anyone else who posts within 5 minutes of the winning post will be entered into a draw for the second prize below! (Mr. Pooka note... this contest seems easy enough right? nothing could go wrong here!) First Prize! an Alchemist assistant! Second Prize! a Pilot assistant! Bonus Prize! an instrument! The first person to successfully name the song from the above contest may have any available musical instrument added to a Sphinx they own, (-8 ------------------------------------------ Nemo's Bounty DThe Ruins of Hawara Villagesphinxes.proboards.com/thread/896/ruins-hawara-village-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nemo's Bounty BThank you for helping me recover that statue. It's importance shall become more clear the deeper you go... if you continue on the path of assisting me and the people of S.T.E.A.M. Now, I have another task... well three similar tasks. Two of my allies have discovered three more artifacts hidden in plain sight, presumably unknown to their owners. *Nemo takes deep breath and gives a pensive look at the would be helpers* This might be a task that some of you have problems with. I know where my thoughts lay on this matter but I am not one to tell others how to live their lives. Again, I will not drag this out with moral philosophy. There are three large gears, pieces of machinery... are you familiar with that term? If you are not, think of them as parts of a larger tool, like the head of a shovel or pommel of a khopesh, just a little more complex. Now the part you may have a problem with is where these artifacts are displayed. Two of them are embellished and disguised as sun disks and hang on the wall of the local Temple of Ra. The third is worked into a bas-relief in the Temple of Horus. I'm not yet convinced that simple... well strait forward anyways... thievery will do for this delicate situation. Perhaps I'll take a bit more time planning before I assign this mission. I believe Robin and Alan have another job that they could use help with? Bounty B Update!Curse my inability to come up with a proper plan in time. Someone has already stolen the three great wheels that we needed from these Temples! While theoretically it could have been anyone who stole these items, the timing makes me believe that the Serpent People are behind this. All is not lost though... we do have one lead that I could really use some help in following up. A young scribe who is an apprentice priest in the Temple of Horus who was interviewed by one of my desert scouts observed a curious coincidence. On the day that the artifact was stolen from the Temple of Horus, the scribe happened to remember a cold young Sphinx. There was just something off about her he said. Now this alone might not have been much, but later that evening he saw the same Female leaving a particularly run down curio or pawn shop. The sort of place that always looked closed or at least uninviting. I need at least five of you to check this place out and see if you can recover the artifacts... and don't worry your conscience, stealing from thieves is not stealing at all. I'll also be sending Robin with you to give you a hand! Bounty B The Game!Sometime after page 402 in this thread I will post an image of Robin (EM1280, as seen below in the spoiler) in this thread. Once that happens the game begins. Any time after you see Robin I need these FIVE things post in a sequence, with no interruption. (if the chain gets messed up you can start again and again until we get it right!). Each of these things must be posted by different players. (Five things, Five players.) 1 - post an image of something distracting, with the code phrase "Cunning Distraction!" 2 - post an image of someone breaking open a door or picking a lock, with the code phrase "I've got this!" 3 - post this exact image with the code phrase "I've got this one." 4 - post this exact image with the code phrase "This one is heavy!" 5 - Post this exact image with the code phrase "I'll get the last one!" Once we've had a successful heist Nemo will assign one of you a new assistant as well as offer you some of his junk ballast (everyone loves treasure...) for your help! Each of the five players who pull of this heist will have a chance to win either of these prizes! New assistant! Nemo's ship ballast!
